Road map: Where and Why?
This is a master document that is used at Sports life. It’s essentially a daily ‘map’ that will lead players towards the ‘end goal’ of their tennis journey – as a player and as a individual. The map evolves over time and brings purpose to everything that we do. This includes the ‘end goal’ from this tennis journey and what this end goal looks like in terms of a tennis player. It includes the vision that the player has for himself/herself as a tennis player, as well as the vision we have for them. The clearer the vision, the easier it is to build the ‘stepping stones’ to success.
Outcome Steps:
We will state the outcome ‘check points’ we believe are needed to be on track for the final destination. This is reviewed in line with Performance Plan timelines.
Process Steps:
An understanding of all the areas that need to be brought together to build a successful player and person.
Process Goals:
The ‘What’ we simmer this down to the ‘key areas’ of work for the up-and-coming period
Weekly Program and Tournament Plan: THE ‘HOW’
The goals we want to achieve in the time period leads us to our weekly program and tournament plan. This will help turn the player’s ambitions into action. Toward the end of the time period, the performance plan is reviewed, refined and reset for the next time period. The by-product of the player’s commitment to these processes will be the strong results (outcome). This way of thinking allows the players to combine mental freedom with discipline, which leads to mental strength. Trust and commitment to the processes!
We offer Tennis training programs for players at different levels of proficiency.
The Play and Stay (Mini Tennis program) is followed for 5 – 9 years of age group. This is an important age group to start playing tennis as it plays a pivotal role in determining the success of the child as a professional tennis player. Our main focus for this group is on the development of motor skills and hand eye coordination of the child, which is important not just in tennis but in every sport out there, and on creating an enjoyable environment for the kids which makes them want come back again and again.
BEGINNERS/ INTERMEDIATE
This group is the first step towards building a strong foundation for the sport. Our main focus with kids at beginner/ intermediate level is to teach the basic technique of the game and to make them physically and mentally strong enough to execute those techniques. The most important aspect of this stage is developing the right attitude towards the sport, which would help players go a long way.
HIGH PERFROMANCE
At this stage we prepare the player to compete in high level national and international competition. We focus on refining their technique by teaching them the fine bio-mechanics of each stroke, in order to get the maximum output with minimum effort, and also teach them high level tactics which would help the player perform at their optimum best. We also focus on developing a sound mind-set which is very important for performance at high level competitions. We at Sports Life have a lot of focus on the player’s fitness, which we consider to be one of the biggest factors in performance.
